Your Citi Debit Card offers you a truly international personal banking experience by giving you access to multiple currencies and allowing you to shop at tens of millions of merchants worldwide - wherever you see your card logo displayed. Fees may apply.
Please make sure we have your current mobile number and that you are contactable on your phone whilst travelling. If we identify suspicious activity on your card, you will receive a text message asking you to confirm if the transaction is genuine.
To avoid paying unnecessary fees, make sure your card is linked to the correct account before you travel. You can check and amend your card linkage instantly using Citi Online.
Standard daily cash withdrawal limits apply when you are travelling overseas. You may withdraw up to £2000 per day, or equivalent if withdrawing foreign currency.
Some shops, restaurants and ATMs abroad may offer Dynamic Currency Conversion (or 'DCC'). This gives you the option of paying in the local currency or having the transaction converted into Pounds (GBP) on the spot. If you choose to pay in the local currency, your account will be debited using the exchange rate offered by Citi. If you choose to pay in Pounds (GBP), the retailer will set the exchange rate, which may not be as competitive as the rate offered by Citi.
Important: If your card is already linked to an account in the local currency, please do not select Dynamic Currency Conversion. That way, you will prevent your transaction from being converted twice and incurring unnecessary costs.
Why use contactless?
There is no need to insert your Citi Debit Card into a terminal or enter your PIN. Simply hold your card in front of the contactless reader.
Contactless purchases are quicker for both you and others using contactless cards, meaning faster transactions and shorter queues.
Contactless payments use the same secure technology as Chip and PIN payments, giving you the same level of fraud prevention, and will only work on purchases of up to ₤100. For additional security, you may occasionally be asked to enter your PIN.
Using contactless on London Transport
Contactless payments are accepted on London's tube, bus, tram, DLR and Overground lines, as well as most National Rail services within the capital.
Contactless journeys cost the same as an adult Oyster pay-as-you-go fare and you can benefit from daily and Monday to Sunday capping.
At Citi, we give you the option to hold accounts in multiple currencies, all accessible with the same Citi Debit Card. When travelling, simply link your card to an account in the currency of your destination country. This will allow you to withdraw cash and make card payments without incurring transaction fees.

We work hard to make your online purchases simple, convenient and safe from fraud. Your new Mastercard® Citi Debit Card uses Mastercard® SecureCode™ as a quick and sophisticated way of identifying yourself to Citi Security when shopping online. Mastercard SecureCode uses One Time Passwords as an enhanced way of authenticating certain transactions, thus helping to protect you from card fraud. Holders of a Mastercard Citi Debit Card are automatically registered with Mastercard Securecode. To ensure you receive a One Time Password, it's vital your current mobile number is registered with Citi.
Citi monitors the security of your card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each time you make an online purchase, the details are automatically checked against your usual spending patterns and the device(s) you use.
How it works
Regular, recognisable purchases may be authorised at once, to make using your debit card as convenient as possible. For some transactions Mastercard SecureCode may ask you to enter a One Time Password as an extra level of security.
Each One Time Password has six digits, and will be sent by text from 'Citibank' to the mobile phone you have registered with Citi.
To authenticate the purchase, enter the One Time Password in the on-screen box and press Submit. You will then be returned to the retailer's site to complete your purchase.
Please make sure we have your current mobile number
The last four digits of the mobile number we hold for you are displayed at the top of the Mastercard SecureCode box.
